Length Of Longbows Of Old

This was very helpful, but I was wondering if the Longbows of old were really as long as the shooter was tall?

Rating No Evidence Length To Height Ratio by: Coach Zeober I’m not a historian and my focus is on modern archery equipment but depending on the era and society the bow may or may not have been made to be as long as the archer is tall. There is no real documented proof that any society in particular used the length to height ratio when outfitting an archer. What we do know for certain is that Europeans once defined a longbow as any bow that is 1.2m long (about 3ft. 9in.) or longer while historians have found longbows that are as long as 6ft 11 inches long.
